Materials Chemistry

is based on fundamental disciplines of inorganic, organic, physical and analytical chemistry and solid-phase physics. Studies of these subjects help to understand structure and chemical and physical properties of inorganic and organic substances. Specialized materials chemistry subjects build knowledge of relation of materials structure and materials properties. Emphasis is placed on methods of preparation, characterization and theoretical study of new materials. Practical experience in methods of X-ray diffraction, optical and electron microscopy, thermal analysis, mass spectrometry, vibrational, nuclear and NMR spectroscopy allow graduates to adapt themselves quickly to different methods they may meet in practice. Deeper specialization in metal, inorganic, polymeric and semiconductor materials is achieved by preparing a thesis in one of these areas.
