Brno announces its PhD talents for 2023

We would like to share the great news from the Brno PhD Talent Competition, which already knows its winners. In this year's competition, Kateřina Hrůzová, PhD student at the Department of Chemistry, succeeded. The competition is aimed at students in the first year of doctoral studies carried out in the city of Brno. Its main goal is to support young scientists in their study and scientific endeavors. Congratulation to Kateřina!

MUNI SCIENTIST AWARD 2023

The most successful scientists or research teams of Masaryk University have been awarded the MUNI SCIENTIST AWARD 2023 for their significant achievements, publication in prestigious journals and research results. This year, GAMU awarded 37 excellent scientists or research teams. More than thirty researchers personally attended the awards ceremony in the refectory of the Mendel Museum. Awardees from the Department of Chemistry were Mgr. Jakub Švenda, Ph.D. for an article published in Angewandte Chemie and doc. RNDr. Mgr. Jozef Hritz, Ph.D. for receiving the prestigious Excellence Hubs grant.

Prof. František Švec receives the Bronze Medal of MU

Prof. František Švec presented the lecture with the title Monolithic format of porous materials: A polymer chemist's view at the Department of Chemistry as part of the lectures of the ČSCH Brno on 30 November 2023. On this occasion, the MU bronze medal was officially presented to prof. František Švec by the director of Department of Chemistry Petr Táborský.

Start-up Grants

Are you a young scientist who has obtained a PhD in organic, bioorganic, or medicinal chemistry within the past seven years? Have you just returned (or are planning to soon return) from at least a year–long post-doctoral research stay abroad and are thinking about establishing your own research group in the Czech Republic? These start-up grants are awarded for a period of three years to young scientists who have spent at least a year conducting research abroad. The research group will receive a total of CZK 2 million from Experientia Foundation every year. Another 0,7 million CZK, the workplace and laboratory equipment will be provided by the host institution.

Start your career at a prestigious global university

Are you younger than 35, have completed (or will soon complete) a PhD, and your research is focused on organic, bioorganic or medicinal chemistry? If the answer is yes, then the Experientia Foundation is offering you a unique opportunity in the form of a grant to help finance a year-long post-doctoral fellowship or research stay at a prestigious foreign university of your choice. All you have to do is to come up with an original project, contact the research workplace of your dreams and subsequently submit a grant application by 15 March 2024. The selected candidates will be invited to present their projects at a joint meeting of the Grant Committee and the Board of Trustees. The meeting is usually held at the end of May.
