Researchers` Night 2022

This year we again participated in the Researchers` Night on the theme of all the senses. A program Experimental Chemistry Show included recognition of different scents and colorful and loud chemical experiments. Watch the video from Researchers` Night at the Department of Chemistry.

Vojtěch Kundrát: Doing science is a permanent oscillation between the ecstasy of the new and the frustration of the unfinished

Vojtěch Kundrát graduated in material chemistry under the supervision of prof. Jiří Pinkas. He is currently working as a postdoctoral fellow at the Weizmann Institute of Science in the working group of prof. Reshef Tenne, the discoverer of inorganic nanotubes and fullerenes from WS2 and MoS2.

A new mechanism regulating RNA splicing was discovered by a team led by Dalibor Blazek

The scientific journal NATURE has just published the discovery of the research team led by Dalibor Blazek from CEITEC MU that describes a previously unknown mechanism regulating RNA splicing – an essential process for the control of gene expression. Labs of Kamil Paruch from the Department of Chemistry at Masaryk Universitycontributed by performing the chemical-biology characterization of OTS964.

Our Spin-off CasInvent Pharma Raises €1.3 Million from Foreign Investors

A unique investment has been made in the university spin-off company CasInvent Pharma, which is developing compounds with anticancer properties. The KHAN Technology Transfer Fund I and i&i Biotech Fund invested €1.3 million in the company. With this funding, CasInvent Pharma will be strengthening the development and preclinical testing of a compound for the treatment of leukaemia.

Two of our students took part in this year's Jean-Marie Lehn award for chemistry. Dominik Madea took 3rd place and Martin Kejík was in the top ten. Congratulation!
