Vladimír Šindelář from the Department of Chemistry has been awarded the Rudolf Lukeš Prize for the development of molecules that capture anions from water

This year’s Rudolf Lukeš Prize, awarded by the Czech Chemical Society in collaboration with the Experientia Foundation, has been awarded to Professor Vladimír Šindelář from the Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Science, Masaryk University. Professor Šindelář is receiving the award in recognition of his significant achievements in the field of supramolecular chemistry. Specifically, he is being honoured for developing molecules that can capture anions (negatively charged particles) from water with exceptional efficiency.

These were among the topics discussed at the Opening Ceremony for the 2026/2027 academic year, which took place in the hall of the Besední dům. MU professors emeritus received their letters of appointment, two of them are from our faculty

A ceremonial gathering, held in recognition of their long-standing work and contribution to Masaryk University, brought together five professors emeritus from the three founding faculties – the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Law. Rector Martin Bareš presented them with their letters of appointment in the presence of the deans of the faculties where the professors are based. We warmly congratulate the honourees from our faculty: Prof. Jiří Holčík, a renowned expert in mathematical biology, and Prof. Josef Komárek, a leading expert in the field of analytical chemistry and atomic spectrometry.

Last year, Deborah Barbora Fričová completed the Chemistry and Technology of Materials for Conservation and Restoration program at the Faculty of Science; she is now applying the knowledge and skills she acquired in her role as a conservator at the Podhorácké Museum in Předklášteří u Tišnova.
