Our research: Development of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance for Paramagnetic Systems

Radek Marek's (@LabMarek) research group at the Department of Chemistry, CEITEC, and NCBR has long been involved in developing theoretical concepts of paramagnetic and relativistic effects on the parameters of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. In this review article, they summarize their fundamental findings achieved over the last eight years in the broader context of magnetic resonance and theoretical chemistry.

Our research: Studying the structure and interactions of Tau protein to understand Alzheimer's disease

The research group of assoc. prof. Jozef Hritz working at the Department of Chemistry, the National Centre for Biomolecular Research and CEITEC of Masaryk University has long been studying proteins involved in neurodegenerative diseases, especially Alzheimer's disease. In a recent publication, they focused on the structure and interactions of phosphorylated Tau protein, a key player in this disease.

Our research: Impact of secondary ice in a frozen NaCl freeze-concentrated solution on the extent of methylene blue aggregation

We introduce our research: Lukáš Veselý and Radim Štůsek, led by Dominik Heger (principal investigator at the Department of Chemistry), performed this study in cooperation with the A-ESEM microscopy group of the Czech Academy of Sciences. They successfully connected microscopic images with spectroscopic data, which led to the first ever demonstration that the inner structure of the freeze-concentrated solution has a major influence on aggregation during freezing.
