Summer Science Internships
Call for proposals for prospective supervisors to join the Summer Science Internships programme for international students, focused on scientific research and laboratory work, organized by the MU Centre for International Cooperation
(CZS). Update: The deadline has been extended to the end of January 2023!
The Summer Science Internships programme is organized by the Centre for International Cooperation, which takes care of all the arrangements. The Centre for International Cooperation will be in touch with the students, help them find accommodation and prepare a cultural programme and trips to Prague, Vienna and Budapest. The supervisor will only be responsible for the agenda related to the internship itself.
Detailed information about the Research Internship programme is in the document ‘Call for Proposals’. Or on the programme website here.
In brief:
- Students must work for at least 250 hours at the workplace during the placement period (May 29 – July 20, 2023).
- The supervisor will communicate with the student before and during the internship. And during the internship, he/she should be available to the student for personal meetings, consultations, possibly answering emails, etc.
- The supervisor should also introduce the student to the workplace, project and work plan and supervise the progress of the internship.
- It is also the responsibility of the supervisor to be present on the first day of the internship on May 29, 2023, and ideally be present for the entire first week of the internship. Similarly, be present at the end of the internship on July 20, 2023, when the students will present their projects.
- At the end of the internship, the supervisor will evaluate the student's work and give the student the grade necessary to receive ECTS credits.
- The supervisor receives a compensation of CZK 20,000 for working with the student
How does the supervisor get involved in the programme?
- Supervisors will fill out the attached ‘Summer Research Internships Project Proposal’ form and send this form no later than October 30, 2022, to glogar@czs.muni.cz.
What comes next?
- Proposals for projects will be published on the MU website.
- If the international student likes the supervisor's proposal, he/she will complete and submit an application through the university's ISOIS system.
- In the next step, the Centre for International Cooperation will inform the supervisor about the applicant, and the supervisor will assess whether to approve the application and accept the student for the internship on the basis of the documents attached by the student in the application form.
