The Dean awarded personalities of our Faculty of Science

Dean of the Faculty of Science Tomáš Kašparovský honoured 36 personalities who had made a significant contribution to the development of the Faculty, and its departments and institutes, over the last few decades. From the Department of Chemistry were awarded prof. Josef Havel, prof. Vítězslav Otruba, prof. Milan Potáček and prof. Zdirad Žák.

MUNI Scientist Awards recognise the university’s excellent achievements in research

Second MUNI Scientist Awards were granted at the annual conference of the Grant Agency of Masaryk University. Two researchers from the Department of Chemistry prof. Mojmír Šob and prof. Vladimír Šindelář were awarded. Congratulations!

Scientists from the Faculty of Science win the MUNI Innovation Award

During the recent Business Research Forum, Masaryk University (MU) presented its new MUNI Innovation Award for innovative achievement for the first time. Among the awardees was Kamil Paruch from Dept. of Chemistry with Vítězslav Bryjaand Pavlína Janovská (both Dept.of Experimental Biology) for unique research in the field of casein kinase 1 inhibition, which included the synthesis of new highly selective and patentable compounds. The work led to the establishment of the university spin-off company CasInvent Pharma, the main aim of which is to bring selected compounds up to the clinical trial stage. Congratulations!

Last week, Dean Tomáš Kašparovský personally presented the Dean’s Awards for Best Students at the Faculty of Science of Masaryk University. Two chemistry students were awarded:

Zuzana Husáková, a student in the Chemistry Master’s study program, specialises in Analytical Chemistry
Martina Nechvátalová, a graduate of the Chemistry Doctoral study program

Seeing the structure of our molecule for the first time was the biggest “wow” moment, says Vladimír Šindelář

Vladimír Šindelář studied at the University of Chemical Technology in Prague, where he obtained his PhD at the Department of Polymers. He completed postdoctoral internships at Heriot-Watt University, Great Britain, and the University of Miami, USA. Since 2005 he has been working at the Department of Chemistry.
